They Call It Cancer is a performance art piece consisting of sculptures for performance and a soundtrack. I sculpted brands in the shape of the bodies organs that were infested with cancer in my father’s body. I made a wooden effigy with a steel bulls head, like a Minotaur. Here, I burned the brands into the effigy while a soundtrack weaved a live recording of a cow branding and rock and roll. In addition, I made a casket of years sticks with ceramic wishbones that suspended from beneath. Here, I performed endurance yoga postures on a suspended rope and the casket swung beneath me.
